2011 Holiday Home Tour brings residents to Field House

During the Holiday Home tour event, many residents visited the new Schroeder Field House for the first time. While viewing the decorated building, residents enjoyed hot cider and cookies.  Sales were brisk for decorative items designed by members of the Special Events committee, with Sunday sales exceeding $2000.

Overall 150 residents and their guests enjoyed the afternoon event and 50 also attended the brunch at Lochmoor Club.  This was the most well attended home tour to date.

"Boo Fest" treats shared with residents on October 26, 2011

Rain didn't deter residents from bringing their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to enjoy the festivities at the city's 2011 "Boo Fest". As always, one of the favorite stops along the scary adventure was the Foundation refreshment tent. GPSIF trustees and members served cold cider, hot chocolate, donuts and candy canes to the hungry crowd.

Pickleball Equipment ready for use

This Fall, the Foundation worked with the City to create a pickleball court at Osius park. Pickleball is a combination of Ping-Pong, tennis, and badminton and has been enjoyed for over 30 years by people of all ages. The City painted the pickleball court lines on one of the tennis courts that is no longer used for tennis. The equipment may be borrowed from the Park Gate Attendent.

Read more about it and see photos of the equipment in the Projects section.

GPS history panels on display

If you weren't able to attend the GPSIF Schroeder Fieldhouse Dedication and Old Time Ice Cream Social, you still will be able to see the GPS history display. This 6 panel display, created by GPSIF trustees Hidee Neuenschwander, Lynn Kurtz and Susan Walton, is on display on the lower level of the Village offices.

Please stop by and see 100 years of Grosse Pointe Shores history along with  photographs of centennial homes, interspersed on a one-hundred year time-line of world history.
