Residents, Trustees and many Council members celebrated the dedication of the Splash Pad yesterday. Marty Ellis was the master of ceremonies and thanked the many sponsors and donors of this project. Marty also thanked the trustees and city employees who worked on the splash pad since its start in August 2013. GPS Mayor Kedzierski was on hand to congratulate the Foundation on this fine addition to the Grosse Pointe Shores Park and to remind residents of the many other projects that the Foundation has completed in the past 30 years.
On Sunday, May 5th 2014, Grosse Pointe Shores celebrated Arbor Day with a city-sponsored Fun Run. GPSIF trustees were on hand to pass out bottled water and granola bars. Vice President and Tree Committee chairperson Brett Marshall gave away a variety of tree saplings to interested residents.
Two trees were planted in Osius Park to honor lifetime Foundation members, William Clay Ford and Ralph Wilson, who both passed away in the past year.
Colors have been chosen for the splash pad and all of the features have arrived. Now the weather needs to cooperate. The tough sealer requires 5 days of 50 degree weather. Certainly that will happen before the planned dedication on June 17th, 2014. The ribbon cutting and dedication is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., prior to a council meeting. A donor reception will follow.
